A Message From Your Chapter President

Dear Fellow Pioneers,

Time marches on as we enter the fourth quarter of the year, and gear up for the myriad activities that involve holiday parties and volunteer programs designed to help to make life better and brighter for many people. A review of the pages of this issue will outline some of those plans, and may present suggestions to some of you who are short on time but still have a desire to make a personal contribution of some kind.

It has been said that the younger generation hesitates to make commitments and promises. This is understandable in today's world where life moves at a faster pace than ever before. But Americans don't basically change in their desire to help those less fortunate than themselves.  Even those whose personal commitments keep them tremendously busy share those desires.

We hope that some of our Pioneer programs can help to fulfill those wishes to help to make it a better world without tying people down. For example, many of the activities listed under "Volunteer Opportunities" require a very small outlay of time. Or, while at your desk, take a minute to "Click-A-Day" for literacy or animal welfare. Mall Networks shopping on line helps you and your chapter financially and the Volunteer Incentive Program provides grants to non-profit groups.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to each one of you who have given so graciously of your time and talent to keep the Fort Pitt Chapter alive and well in 2008. To all active, Life Members and future Pioneers and your families, I'm sending best wishes for a merry Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and a very Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Stevens

Chapter President
